I have always had a love for music, all types of music. When I was in middle school I loved the band Nirvana, along with most of my classmates. I had their new album, knew every word to each song and even took guitar lessons and drum lessons so I could try to learn some of the songs. Kurt Cobain had a big part of my life for a few years and when he took his life in the early nineties I was lost. I learned right then and there what drugs can do to a person. From that time forward, Kurt Cobain changed the music scene and the music culture. Many know his name, his talent and recognize him for so many things. Because I was such a fan, I knew that he grew up in Aberdeen, WA and eventually took his life in Seattle. I have wanted to visit his memorial park and earlier this summer on the way to one of our adventures, we stopped to visit.
I was able to briefly share who he was with my kiddos and tell them not to do drugs. They didn't quite understand, but they do know and like music. I know they will understand when they are older and probably go through the same music stages that I did. RIP Kurt Cobain.
