Back to School

I officially have a child in school!  Not preschool, actual all day elementary school, where he rides the bus and spends more time at school than at home now.  I have mixed feelings about this, but am overall excited that I have a child in kindergarten!  Sure, some may think that it's just kindergarten, but it still feels like a big deal in our house.  With T going to kindergarten and D in preschool a few days a week, the wifey and baby R will have some quality one on one time together.  I have had so many thoughts about T starting school and I have so many ideas and words that I want him to know.

I hope and pray that T will be brave, honest, kind, forgiving, friendly and helpful.  I hope that as a parent and as his father I have taught him what these traits are and what they mean.  I hope he cares for the other kids and is friends with them no matter what others think or say about them. I hope he listens to the other kids and smiles, laughs and plays with them.  I hope his little smile and giggles are contagious and they spread to other kids.  I hope he is kind and invites all kids to play with him.  I hope the other kids will do the same do him.  He can be shy and quiet at times and he may need a gentle nudge every so often to get him going.  I hope the other kids will have these quality traits as well and that they won't forget about what it was like to run and play and not have the responsibilities that I now have.  I hope he creates memories and learns each day from all of these new experiences that he will have.  I hope he listens, and learns and does his homework.  I hope his mind is open and is enlightened to education and learning new things.  I hope he accepts other kids, no matter what they look like, how they dress, how they talk or who their parents or siblings are.  I hope he makes new friends and creates relationships with them. I hope he looks up to his teacher and creates a relationship with her as well.  This is the beginning of a great chapter in his life and I hope he remembers this chapter in his life.  If he doesn't, then good thing I posted this and he can look if up later on. One of the benefits of blogging.  I have rambled on enough, bring on the school year and this next chapter in our lives.
