Another Year Older

Another birthday has come and passed.  This year, it left me at 34 years old.  I am now a full on grown up, like an adult, except for the fact that I always like to have funfetti cake on my birthday, ha!  It really is the best kind though, and that frosting is soooo good!  I celebrated with my staff at work with desserts, a leadership lunch meeting.  After work the kiddos and wifey sang to me, we ate cake then got a babysitter so the wifey and I could enjoy a nice dinner downtown at a new pizza place.  It was a birthday wells pent, bring on the next year!

Na Pali Coast Hiking

We headed up to the north end of the island one day to explore some towns, beaches and hike around the Na Pali Coast.  The views were amazing, although the trail was muddy!  We hiked in, had lunch at an amazing beach on the rocks , then some of us hiked up stream to the waterfall and others went back to another beach.  It was a day well spent exploring the coast!

Piopu Beach

We stayed in Poipu Beach in some awesome condos.  They were close to the beach and also close to plenty of shops and restaurants.  We had full kitchens in the condos and did some shopping at Costco and the markets as well.  It was great to have food, drinks and snacks at the condo, and still be able to eat out when we wanted too.  We loved getting acai bowls and smoothies as well.  The views were amazing, the sand and water felt good and we had a great time exploring different beaches.

Hanakapiai Waterfall

I loved the scenic hike along the Napali coast on the island of Kauai.  It had rained the night before so the path was muddy as can be, but it was amazing!  All of our group hiked 2 miles and had lunch at this amazing beach!  From there, part of the group continued up the river to see the waterfall while the rest of the group headed back to check out some beaches (Tunnell Beach and Anini Beach).

I hiked up 2 more miles and loved every minute of it.  So many cool trees, the bamboo and crossing the river multiple times.  I was happy I was wearing my tevas for this hike.  Once we got to the waterfall, we jumped right in and swam around in the water, let the water fall on our faces and just enjoyed the amazing surroundings.  It was beautiful.  The feeling of floating through the water, while having the water splash down on your face as you look up was perfect.  These are the memories that I want to create for myself and my family.  It was a beautiful part of the island and it reminded me of the forests in WA a little bit, since there was moss on a lot of the rocks and trees.  I guess this part of the island gets a lot of rain.
