Running

I found my old ipod from when I was in college about 10 years ago and I have been listening to it on my evening runs this past week or so.  I just put in on random play and enjoy the tunes.  As each song plays, I have these vivid memories that come back to me as I hear the music and the lyrics.  Each memory makes me smile and reminds me of a specific point in my life.  Whether it's Tom Petty, Counting Crows, Damien Rice or Nelly.   It's almost as if I am reliving that moment, which is good.  It motivates me to keep running and push extra hard so I can get a quicker pace and run a mile longer.  As I was getting close to the end of my normal a great song came on and I pushed it up and ran around my neighborhood a little longer and added an extra mile to my run.  It felt good.  I felt good.  I felt happy.

Running has always been me time.  It's a time where I can let my thoughts run wild as my legs carry me through the streets of my city, while I take in the amazing sky and sunsets.  It allows me to think about my life, my family, my job, my beliefs and ponder about what I can do to become a better person, a better husband and a better father.  It's me time and I need that me time.  Although, I am happy to share my time with others, which I do often when I push one of the kiddos in the jogging stroller. Below are some of the views that I get to enjoy while running.
